The Green Room, Shoreditch

The project entails creating a visitor center and exhibition space to honor the original Shakespeare Theatre in London, established in 1576. A notable aspect is a 1:1 scale representation of the theater's roundhouse structure, including stone foundations and a viewing window onto preserved original foundations. This was achieved by generating a graphic representation of the structure from photos of a new green-oak structure based on archaeological details. The pattern was printed onto Graphic Concrete membranes and applied to Glass Fibre Reinforced Concrete (GRC) panels using spray guns. The thin GRC panels (16mm) are demolded, cleaned, and installed with standard stone cladding fixings compatible with an aluminum rain screen cladding system. Their low contrast design allows them to function as projection screens or graphic walls, with side lighting enhancing the pattern's shadows.
