BY GRAPHIC CONCRETE
The Belgian Precast Concrete Federation has named the Enjoy Concrete head office in Veurne, Belgium, as 2014 Precast Concrete Building of the Year. The head office of Enjoy Concrete, itself a precast concrete construction specialist, is an excellent example of a contemporary industrial building made entirely from precast concrete elements. The building consists of a large warehouse and offices. An impressive three-metre-wide glass extension protrudes six metres from the second storey of the building above the main entrance, where it is perfectly integrated with the concrete elements.
The idea was to create contrast and break up the monotony of traditional industrial buildings. The resulting glass space houses the company’s board room. The building as a whole is well integrated with the surrounding nature thanks to its graphic concrete façade, which features a repeating tree pattern. The graphic concrete design was inspired by the trees that grow along the Damme Canal that flows through Bruges.
The Belgian Precast Concrete Federation (FEBE) represents 80 member companies and 110 factories accounting for 85% of the turnover of the Belgian precast concrete industry.
